Cantilever Racking Creates Storage for Aircraft Components
Norfolk-based Swift Aircraft was formed in 2004 with plans to create an aircraft which would help to revitalise the British general aviation industry. Now in the final stages of the prototype build of their first aircraft, they are on target to create over 100 new aerospace careers over the next two years.
In 2022, Swift Aircraft got in touch with ESE Direct as they were looking for a storage solution for some awkward shaped aircraft components. They'd recently moved into new premises on the former RAF Coltishall site and had nowhere to store some particularly large components for their aircraft, so had no option but to keep them on the floor of the aircraft hanger - which for many reasons was less than ideal.
ESE Direct Sales Manager, Mark Wilson, visited the site to find out more about the specific requirements. Swift explained that they had previously installed some cantilever racking but found it lacked the strength required for this new project. Following the initial survey our Projects team were able to create bespoke designs for some strong structural cantilever racking. Swift approved the designs and asked us to proceed with the manufacture and installation.
"After the award of the order we were kept informed as to when the items would arrive. The installation of the racking was quick with the team provided by ESE. The racking is now fully loaded and we are very happy with its performance. " David Stanbridge, Swift Aircraft.
The installation was completed during the summer as planned, resulting in an impressive storage facility and a lovely tidy aircraft hanger!
