Lithium-Ion batteries are used in a wide variety of products from vehicles to watches, in normal working conditions they are safe and stable to use and charge.
However, if charged using the incorrect voltage, overcharged or charged when damaged, lithium-ion batteries may become unstable and in extreme cases catch fire. General advice regarding management of lithium-ion batteries includes trying to prevent physical damage, avoiding exposing batteries to high or low temperatures, not overcharging batteries, safely getting rid of damaged batteries and lithium-ion batteries should be stored and where possible, charged, in controlled environments.
The range of Lithium-Ion battery storage cabinets from ESE Direct provides a safe solution for both storing and charging of lithium-ion batteries, all cabinets are certified to standard EN 14470-1 - 90 minute fire resistance (TYPE 90) at 800°c, with automatic door closing and anti-spark hinges. Options include: charging sockets, control panels, alarms, FirePro suppression and sensors, model CH-L5Q1PGB also features an integrated quarantine water tank into which the shelves will automatically deposit batteries in the event of a fire.
